Friday Cross Stitch Update

This upcoming week, I will be joining the HAED themed SAL which is "Nautical".  This is last years Freebie SK SAL Treasures, I have almost finished pg 2 - my end of year goal is to finish pg3.  We will see, this is so difficult for me to see, it is on 25 ct 1 x1 full - but I have to use my mag glass, and it is just a pain, and takes me so much longer to stitch.  Also it is a adjustment with the tension, as the fabric is an evenweave, and it is not the same as stitching on aida or hardanger, HOWEVER with that being said, I just love her, and she already has the spot picked out for her completed work, so I really should finish this one.  You know I have a thing for Mermaids......

Last Week End As of 4/26/2012.  I have almost finished page 2 - next time, I am sure.  My goal for this year is to finish page and page 3. This is the most stitches I have ever put into one project.  Even the ones I have completed, I am sure had less stitches.

Jody Bergsma - Native Wisdom Day

Jody Bergsma
Good thursday morning...Native Wisdom day!

Looking behind, I am filled with gratitude,
looking forward, I am filled with vision,
looking upwards I am filled with strength,
looking within, I discover peace
~ Apache Prayer...Thanks Kellee Lindauer for sharing this quote! #quote #LOA #Native

Jody posted this on her facebook - it is something I do not want to forget, so I had to put this in my blog.  This is the best.

I find many of her quotes, her paintings, and her ideas do put me in a peaceful place.  She is good for my soul

So What do you tell your Daughter?

So preplexed, what do I tell my college age daugher - advice???  She has just found out one of her "very best friends" has been feeding information to the enemy.... or just all her secrets....

Quote "If you reveal your secrets to the wind you should not blame the wind for revealing them to the trees."  Not sure where I found this quote - long time ago

Followed by  (Martin Luther King) " The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."

As how she reacts to this will be a reflection of who she is, as she already knows who her friend is...

Friday Cross Stitch Update

Fancy Dancing Very happy this week, I finished page 6 and have even started some on page 3. But did leave some confetti on page 2 - I will have very little time to stitch this week so my goal is to finish the detail on page 2.  Not sure if that will happen.  But this is my favorite piece to work on right now, so I don't want to stop until I finish this page.

Off camping for a bit with my girlfriend ButtonWood Grove.  Looking forward to a wonderful relaxing weekend, and am prepared to stay on my plan with great choices.  Be Safe

A.C. Moore Floss Sale

So I am going to AC Moore tonight, I just can't pass up a DMC floss sale - 4 for a dollar.  I never have enough 310, or 3865, so at the very least I can always buy these colors - Just think it would be so silly not to go.

Debated whether or not I should get the floss for a new start, which will be silly, because I am not, I swear I am not, I mean, I really am not having a new start until I have a finish - and it may just be as small as a Christmas Ornament, but it is 2nd qtr 2012 and I have NO FINISHES.....

I think I need to take some time, and sort through my WIP's and find a little something I can finish - this will make me happy.  Will post pictures - as it will have to be a NON HAED, and I have not posted any of those yet.  We will see..... Is it really important to have a finish?  If you asked me that question, I would have to say, well not really - but today I am thinking I need to finish something, before I start anything new.  This is just how I am feeling right now this moment..

Reflections Two

So my daughters (the youngest two, at the moment, attending College)  shared this link on their facebook pages today.  So I watched it first thing this morning - number of views were a little over 20,000.  I just went there to get the link to share on my blog - because my goodness it touched me - and now the number of views has grown to over 100,000 - seriously.  How Bad do you want Success

As I posted last week, I am struggling with my weight and fitness programs - wow did this hit home for me.  I was motivated for real and thought about how often I lay out the excuses, upon excuses.  And I do have a new Hook - This is Eric Thomas and I had never known of him until this morning, but listening to this 5 minute talk was so MOTIVATING TO ME...It was a great way to start my day, and I do have to question - do I want to be healthy as bad as I want to breathe?

Gotta think, I do.  Lucky for me, I read it after I had been at the gym, and had a healthy breakfast.  So I was already feeling empowered.

Friday Cross Stitch Update.

Fancy Dancing Teri Rosario One of my goals
Before April 13, 2012

This is also an 18 or maybe even 14 or 16, not sure will recount aida fabric.  It is easy to stitch.  THis week on HAED BB SAL it is UFOs/SWIP.  This was started 2 years ago - and I have made it a 2012 goal to complete my 2 unfinished pages and completed page 3.  That is a lot of stitches.  But this chart does not have too much confetti, and when it does there are only a total of 67 (about) floss colors so even the most confetti is not a terrible thing.  I chose this picture it reminds me of a very dear friend who more than once got me though the hardest of times.

Freebie SK Forbidden Doorway
April Update
One of the reasons I love to stitch this one is because it is on 18 count aida and its 2 x 1 but it is so easy for me to see.  Even though I do have some magnifying things to help with the smaller counts, it is just so much easier.  The 2nd page will be sent out May 7.  I do want to work on it a little before then, I would like to do at the least 1000 stitches before page 2 comes so I will not be so far behind. You can see where her face will go and the dragon

Blog Design

I have been playing around with my blog design - as I read other blogs, and notice all the fun and exciting things they do, I am definitely going to be making some changes.  So don't be surprised if it changes colors, and the layout contiues to change, as do the gadgets etc, etc.

I need to make it more reflective of my personality - so it screams MELINDA......

This will be wonderful thing, I love to learn new things.

Reflections

"The first principle is that you must not fool yourself - and you are the easiest person to fool." Richard Feynman
Today I took a long hard look at myself in the mirror, before I got dressed, the full length one.  UGH.  Seriously Mindy.  Okay.  So because I did not like what I saw, decided once again, this was going to be day One, get back on track (Weight Watchers Track) and get back to living my life the way I need to.  Heck, my blood pressure medicine had to be upped for a reason.  Went looking through my archives of quotes back from my Leader Days and found this one - and it hit it for me today.  Fingers crossed it will stay with me for awhile so I can get back to my Healthy Weight.  I am tired of squeezing into my pants, and choosing not to wear jeans, elastic sweats feel so much better.

Today, I took out my Points Plus Calc. and figured out the P+ for my new natural Peanut Butter from Peter Pan.  6 P+ s serving.  SO with Peanut Butter, I just needed a half a serving to give my Banana a boost.  My goodness I can't tell you when was the last time I used that calculator.

I can't keep fooling myself, - it does matter to me how I look - I worked so hard to get there, why am I being so stupid.  It does matter about my blood pressure, and I can't control it without good food choices and activity and it is not something to play with - I am just a year younger right now then my dad was when he had his heart attack and died.

What's my weekly plan.

My weekly plan is to track everything.  That's it, just one change.  But along with that tracking, I am limiting myself to 5 non power food snacks this week.  No Hersey Bar after lunch every day, no Ice Cream (full strength) on Chocolate Grahamn crackers every night, no counting beer as a liquid.

Fingers Crossed.  Good Luck to me.

Heaven and Earth SAL Week of 4/6

I am working on Forbidden Doorway for this week. I am sure the new page will be out next month and I really want at least three more rows done on my stitching.  I also need these stitches done, so I do not get too far behind on my 2012 goals.  Here is where I am starting This is 18 ct  2 over 1 full cross stitch and I enjoy this one, because it is so easy for me to see, I do not have to strain my eyes at all.   This is the Freebie SAL - M. Dillman.

Hunger Games - Finished

I am so very glad I read this book, after I saw the movie.  I am getting ready to start the 2nd book.  I hesitate to give this 5 stars, - because I really want more history - about the war, about the different districts - but I think this is the sign of a great book.  To leave me wanting to learn more, to continue the story, to read on, hoping my questions get answered.  So will be Nooking Book 2 today - and I think I am leaning towards the Game of Thrones, as so many people are always talking about this book, and I do believe I will enjoy.

Fairy Foal Hatching Sarah Pauline
Heaven and Earth Designs QS

This is my updated Fairy Foal - it is from last Friday, but I was out of town with Thersesa and Jazarath for the weekend - babysitting JJ while Mommy worked.  So much fun.   But I am happy with my progress for the week, and it is starting to take shape.  I may have to work more on this then I originally thought, during 2012
