Solo September -- FINISH

A Big Shout Out to Justine and Solo September  I have finished my project.  Started January 2013 in an Ultimate Crazy Cross Stitch Challenge.

This is the first project I have actually added all the beads.  There are 44 little red beads on the trees, 11 beads on the large stars and 2 black beads for eyes.  Now I know this may not seem to a lot of beads, because so many of you amazing stitchers add hundreds of beads, but this was my real first attempt and I am so proud of me.

So excited I was able to Finish this - I know this is a direct result of my commitment to Justine's Solo September (link above).

I have also finished this with left over September Stitching Time - I am going to try to stitch up a couple little things before October 1.

New Update Solo September

Here is my latest update on my Solo September piece - this is a great event hosted by Justine  .. She is super great at organizing these One At A Time Stitch alongs.

This has been stitching up quicker than I thought it would, and I really believe it will be finished by the end of the month.  This is Silent Night Cardinals by Stoney Creek

I have spent some of my time organizing all of my WIPS.  I have joined a Facebook Group called the Soulful Stitching Sisters and the admin has organized a Year of Wips challenge - from October 1 - December 2017.  I am using my membership in this group to try to finish some of these WIPS of long ago - I started for a special reason, and even though my stitching tastes have changed over time, these are still the ones I want to finish

This is one of those challenges I think so many of the members are posting videos - but I am not there yet - so I am adding my pictures.  I have updated my blog pages to reflect this challenge and we will see how it goes.  I do  have some personal goals - and they do not include turning all of my WIPS into finishes.

Have a wonderful day.

A couple of Wedding Photos and A Solo September Update

Tuesday September 6

So the wedding is over.  I am so very happy, It was a beautiful day, My daughter is crazy happy. The last few months have been packed full of DRAMA.  But all is good.  I have added only a few of the many pictures taken

Three Generations, Me, my daughter and my grand baby.  She is very happy her mommy and daddy are getting married.
And the dress is on.  The petticoat is misbehaving, so my daughter and me are making some last minute adjustments.

Most of the brides maids - once is missing - last minute shoe purchase, Left to Right Maid of Honor (daughter), Daughter #4, followed by daughter #1 and my niece.  Of course my granddaughter steals the show.

Bride and Groom - the reception is about over when this picture was taken.  It was a wonderful evening.

Silent Cardinals - Solo September - 1st update.
Monday was a holiday - I took the opportunity to relax and Stitch - so I did get quite a bit done on Cardinal #1.  I hope I can continue at this rate and get this project finished before the end of September.

My dress was on sale - it was a great bargain, I will be able to wear it again and again and it was very comfortable.

The wedding was a crazy party.  My son in law is from Jamaica and his family is so much fun.  Looking forward to many more family events.

Theresa loved her little picture holder for her bouquet I have to get a better picture of my little pouch to post.  It was a success.

Solo September

It is now September and I have two 2016 Goals on projects started long ago.  It was to finish one of these.  I am joining Solo September over at Justine's Cross Stitch hoping I can finish one of these.  The project I am working on will be left over from 2013 Cross Stitch Crazy Start .  The last time I worked on this was The Longest Day of the Year SAL.

I will not be able to do very much stitching on this until next Tuesday.  My daughter's wedding is this weekend and I am starting to feel a little stressed.  I did finally buy the dress.  I think it will be perfect.  My daughter cried when she opened the little picture pouch I made for her - I will post a finish of it in a different post.  Now must rush off - rehearsal dinner is tonight....

Today is a Wonderful Day It's Small Sals Sharing Day

This is my Finished Small for April 2016.  This design appeared in a Cross-Stitch and Needlework Magazine.

These are DMC threads, I switched out the overdyes.  The colors look brighter, and I really am trying to bring some Sunshine into the Dark Days of April

Take a hop over to Heather's Stitching Lotus to see all the wonderful April Finishes happening in the Small Sal 2016.

Happy Place

The world of Blogging  is my "Happy Place".  In the writing of my blog, and more important in the Reading of blogs.  Blogs from all over the world.  How much to learn about culture, food, customs.  Yes this is my Happy Place.

I am reminding myself of this especially today, because of all of the nonsense that is happening in my wonderful country.(the not so United States of America)  That was built on Freedoms (and we brag about it) and these basic freedoms with a guarantee to all of us,  - and since we with glass houses often times throw stones it is good to remember if you are free to be you, than I am free to be me.

I am very excited to share my latest finish.  Stoney Creek Welcome - Plop Your Flops. This I started just about a year ago and finishing it was a 2016 Goal..  It's Done.  I had so much fun doing these Flip Flops -  They are a true a sign of Summer in CNY and everyone wears them.  I think I am going to do a bunch more as Smalls in many different designs.  I know that will be too much fun.

This Is Nutcracker #3 -  this 1s a 2016 yearly goal to have completed 12 Nutcrackers by 12/25  - This little guy will look just like Mr. Green and Mr. Blue, but you guessed it dressed in Red.

I was so excited on my Plop Flops Finish, I pulled out another WIP.  I started this for Debbie's Ultimate challenge of 15 New Starts back in 2013. (I thought 15 new starts was crazy, so for all of you who start each year with these Challenges I am too impressed.) I have only worked on it once.  This is too a Stoney Creek Design. So here are Silent Night Cardinals  - Fingers crossed they are not as much Trouble as Cardinal with Candy Cane - We will see. When I do these designs the changing of colors are so crazy.  I have pulled out all the greens, and threaded needles for all the colors - it seems to go faster as there are all these little bits of stitches all over the place. I have to stitch next to each other as much as possible - If you look up above to Mr. Red, it took me about 10 minutes of counting and recounting to jump over to put that other column of green stitches in.  I was a mess.  And that is an easy fabric to work on.  SO.  I am on a mission to see how much green I can get done over the next few days.

I will always have a Stoney Creek design in the mix - these were one of my first Cross Stitching passions and I still get a Feeling of Peace whenever I am stitching one of them - and I still subscribe to the Magazine.

Halloween 2025 Update So it has been a couple of months - and I basically learned a lot about how I waste time for one thing, but I also r...
