January is Over?

So true, So true.  Life passes quickly - so many days, so few memories.  Blogging will help me keep at the very least my stitching fresh - memories and the thoughts and reasons for each piece I choose to stitch - even if I never finish it - it was so very important and meant something the day I picked it up.

Another Finish for 2016   This was finished as a nice Phone Carrier Case. I think I may attempt to do this, But not sure if I will use it on a daily basis - I am afraid it will become a mess if I carry it around too much.
Hello

Cross Stitch Christmas From Hand and Heart
I will be starting one of these Nutcrackers for my 1st Ornament of the year.  I do like to do 12 - since I am a bit behind will have to double up.

Stoney Creek Dog Bone Wisdom
This is my WIP for the Month of  February  Would love to finish the words, and the right side.  That would leave the bottom -- there is a ton of back stitching in this, which I will most likely not do all of it.  It depends on how it looks to me when the cross stitching is done.

I will also be working on Trilogy Springlogy -- Due to Stash Cash Limitations, I am doing this one on Fabric I have and DMC threads.

Have not yet decided on my February Small but will share as the month goes on

Having kids and grandkids for dinner today.  Meal prep awaits me -

Stay safe,

Small Sal January 2016

January 2016 1st Small Sal

I am so excited.  Today is my first post in the Small Sal over at
Stitching Lotus  This is from JBW Designs, French-Country Mitten.
I used DMC 400.  I love this type of stitching, and have several more in my TODO bucket.

This is my in between new start.  LHN -- I am feeling the need to step out of my current life, and step into the old one.  The one where things were slow and simple.  I would love a Rotary Wall Phone in my kitchen with a super long cord, that was always tangled - and I could stretch into the other room to have a private conversation.  This is a feel good little stitching project.

It's almost February - my goodness....

20160119 Painting With A Twist and 1st Finish 2016

Kim and me - Wicked Willow
My Finished Painting

So this is a picture of my Painting with a Twist Event.  There was 16 of us in our group, celebrating my nieces birthday.  I have two pictures - my completed picture to the left and above a picture of my friend - who won 2nd prize for her painted on mustache - and myself (right).

Below you will see my Final Winterlogy - all done - My first finish of 2016 and yes it is sideways - this must be a camera setting and have something to do with the original picture - I will continue to try to figure out what's up with that. Below this picture is my update for Woodland Sampler - Started in 2013, and is my WIP for the month of January 2016.  I did a little knitting over the weekend, dealt with a broken furnace and a serious snow fall.  Monday we had a holiday Martin Luther King day - which was great, and I cleaned up my craft room, and I found 4 more unfinished projects.  Do I make every effort this year to finish these WIPs?  We will see what the days bring.

1st Final 2016

This is sideways too.  I really am happy with my progress on this one.

I actually spent time working on my Small for the Small Sal 2016  But no pictures of it yet.

Stay true to you...

2016 01 12

Winterlogy - Almost Done
January is fast flying by.  I really like the Winter months in Central New York - everything but sometimes the driving.

We have not had any snow yet - some predicted for tonight and tomorrow which means driving conditions are excellent and I had no trouble getting to my LNS, A Stitchers Garden

I am a lover of Cardinals.
It's something I inherited from my mom.  So when I received my new copy of Cross Stitch and Needlework I knew I just had to do this project.  And It is Peace on Earth.  SERIOUSLY!! This really has my name all over it.  It is a Cottage Gardens Samplings  I really like Vinniey Tan's designs.

So this will be my one new start for 2016 and I purchased the fabric and threads (plus a few other things) this weekend.

Up top is a picture of Winterlogy which is almost done - have to fill in some of the ice block outlines and the snow on the last block on the right.  I was so planning on having this finished by now, but oh well.

Looks like this weekend will continue to be fun filled, I am attending a Painting with a Twist  Event on Saturday.  It is for my nieces birthday celebration.  We have a great time when we do this, I will share a picture of my creation along with one of what it is suppose to look like next post.

Stay safe

2016

As with each new year, I would not be honest if I did not review the past year and look forward to the new.

I am so very happy, I took my empty nest issue into my own hands and moved out on my kids -- to my very new cozy, tiny home.

I took my health into my own hands and was able to get off of all my puffers and steroids for my lungs, which saves me hundreds of dollars in prescriptions and now I can walk again without losing my breath.

Which was the key to me losing 20, and running again.

I met my reading and 90% of my stitching goals.

And I survived another year without choking my manager (who is a good friend) at my job and now have but 2 and 1/2 years left until retirement.

I started to read my favorite blogs again -- and even added a comment or two and started posting to my own blog.

SO THAT WAS A VERY SUCCESSFUL YEAR.

I can only hope for 2016 I overcome my challenges and can stay in the same amazing mental space I feel right now for the rest of the year.

OKAY

I held my New Years Day Brunch  which was so very fun.  All the kids came with the grandkids - my two single daughters (who rent my old home) had an amazing New Years Eve, which limited their ability to do just about anything and texted me with their regrets.

just so happens I have leftovers.

I hate to cook, always have, not sure why - always seemed like way too much work for me - however, if I do it with a crock pot - don't mind one little bit.  Everyone does the most amazing things with crockpots.

I used Fix It and Forget It   One of my favorite Cook books.  And prepared  5 different brand new wonderful dishes - my kids have never had before - on purpose - else they would eat the same stuff all the time.   The best new recipe I tried was  The ones that tried it liked it -- I did but it was very sweet.

Winterology
Cheers to a wonderful new year - when you are able to have a happy and healthy life and we all find somehow to live together, celebrating our blessings and find a way to embrace our differences. Peace on Earth.
