11 Down and 1 to Go

Here is my Finished Nutcracker Sampler.  They will be finished and on Display with the rest of my little guys very soon.  These guys make 11 -- I did two of these as individuals the last two to the right.

Of all of my 11 Nutcrackers I have finished the little green dude to the far left of this picture is my favorite.

I have one more to finish before the end of 2016 and that one goal for the year will be met.  Meeting my goals by the original due date never happens - so there is not a very high percentage that this one will be met - but I am so very close.

This took me so much longer than I thought it would, but I have not really concentrated much on stitching over the past couple of weeks.  This is done on 22 ct white 1 over 1 all DMC called for threads, accept the faces and hands of the nutcrackers - I did them in DMC 3772 to add a little color to my project.  I found this in Better Homes and Garden Christmas 1990.

I am not going to post the updates to my election challenge pictures as a blog post.  They are all WIPS from my year of WIP challenge and I will post those pictures on those pages at some point.

Did a quick inventory of my Stash - Charts and Magazines only - and I am a little embarrassed at how much I have.  Am going to be doing a whole bunch of different types of new starts next year, because I really did buy those charts once upon a time, because I wanted to stitch them.  And I still dowant to at least give them a start.

Looking forward to having next week off.  Much needed vacation - I really plan to spend so much time getting caught up on my blog reading and reconnecting with those parts of my life that bring me joy.

  1. Love your sampler. I think you are brave to go through your stash. I keep saying I will but I find so many other fun things to do!

  2. Your nutcrackers are looking great!! There is an awful lot of solid stitching in that piece--no wonder it has been taking longer than you anticipated...

Enjoy your week off--and Happy Thanksgiving :)

  3. It's a terrific piece and hooray for your finish. I'm still sorting out my craft room after my move and all I'm doing is finding more charts to add to my ever growing "next year" pile. Can I grow more arms?

  4. Your nutcrackers look fantastic, Melinda. Great job! And you will finish the last of these guys as well this year.
I know that feeling as well when going through my stash. And yes, in these moments I'd love to start all the charts that I own, lol, but that's impossible (although I have seen some bloggers doing exactly this and I admire them for it). But at least I can take a bunch and start them next year :)

  7. Great work on the Nutcrackers. I am sure you can meet your goal for this year!
I only have six magazines in my stash. Oops, I mean six BOXES of magazines! Dating back to 1993 when I started stitching.

  11. It's been awhile since I've destashed, but I do remember going through my charts and huge magazine pile at one point and getting rid of a lot of them. Stitching styles have changed a lot since the 80s, lol!

  13. Love your Nutcrackers!
Going through stash is a wonderful experience.... and dangerous! I recently decided to cull all my magazines and only saw the designs that I think I will stitch (if I can live enough life times that is!)
Looking forward to your YoW progress!
    Hugs xx

  14. I hope you are enjoying your week off! I hadn't seen the Nutcracker piece before, but I have a Santa WIP that I think is probably from the same designer/magazine. I think the Nutcracker on the far left is my favorite one, with his top hat and pocket watch he's so cute!

  16. They look fantastic! I did this one years ago, but cheated and didn't add the alphabet and candy cane border. Do you know how you're going to frame it?
