Frog

I have been cross stitching since 1988.  That is quite a long time.
It was just in 2009, I learned a new meaning.

From About.com
Definition: Frog or Frogging is a slang term used by stitchers to refer to removing stitches when you make a mistake. When you take a stitch out you have to rip it, rip it. Get it?

Now in 2012 I have learned another

And not only I have learned about scissor frogs - I have learned there are so many wonderul different types of scissors.... WHERE HAVE I BEEN? So many of the blogs I read, you ladies have the greatest scissor frogs, and the greatest scissors....

My mom had one of these, but I know she did not put scissors in it, I am sure she used it for flowers.  I believe it is in one of the boxes of things I took from her house, stored in my basement, or if my sister has it?

I think I must have one of these, and I must have at least one pair of scissors that defines my personality.

Please share if you would, your favorite scissors, where you find them, and where you got your frog.

Is there any other ways Frog is used in cross stitching?

I am blessed to have learned all about frogs.

  2. Oh gosh, I didn't consider using them for scissors! I've only know them as flower-holder... things! There are also frog frogs as well. My favorite scissors would have to be the ones my grandmother gave to me -- an old pair of stork embroidery scissors that need a good sharpening. I only have 3 scissors in the whole house, haha. I haven't a single frog but my mom has quite a collection (of both the animal and hole-y things)!

  6. Flower frogs you have to find in antique/junk shops, sometimes you end up just buying the frog (the inside part with the holes) then shopping for the right vase/container to go with it later on.

There's one place I get my Ginghers each year when the new designer series is released and its here http://www.mikeusa.com/Gingher-list.aspx I've picked up scissors here and there there are plenty of fancy handled cheapies out there nowadays. This shop has a great variety of scissors I've never ordered from them but heard good things http://www.anitalittlestitches.com/scissors.html

For a beautiful pair of scissors I recommend Dovos they have the best feeling out there but don't do a lot of fancy handles.

  7. That's a great goal to start a scissor collection and find a pretty frog to display them all. I only use one pair of black and white stork scissors that I bought at the Quilt, Craft, and Sewing Festival that comes around twice a year. This time I bought a second pair of gold stork scissors, only $6. But I haven't used them yet, only if I happen to misplace my first pair!
