Thursday Small SAL - Oops its Friday

Heather at Stitching Lotus is kind enough to organize the Small Monthly SAL.  This is JBW French Country Umbrella (without the words).  It is stitched on what I think is 28 ct evenweave - with Fiberlicious Yummy Wildflowers.  The colors are really bright and I really had fun with it.

I never showed you my work from the Class I took the beginning of May on 40 ct silk gauze.
This is quite a process.  First I basted  the gauze to the muslin - so I could put it in my qsnaps. Once it is basted - you cut the whole in the muslin - and if you knew me with scissors this was a little scary.
The picture of my stitching is actually upside down - the one of my stripes so far.  It goes pretty fast - this is a basketweave stitch so you are only doing have a cross stitch -  I picked this for the first project because all the stitches are right next to each other - the counting was still a little difficult.
This is Erica Michaels.  I do plan on finishing this before the 4th of July - and I think I would do one of these again.

This is the beginning of a Holiday Weekend in the States - and the weather in Central New York is suppose to be very hot --- thank goodness as of last week my heat was still kicking on in the night.  I will be enjoying the three day weekend with family and friends and I took an extra day off so I will be relaxing and chilling for 4 wonderful days.    Thanks for stopping by and Stay Safe

At Last Something to Post

The older I get, the more I think about the "good old days".  I guess it also is coming into play this year will be my 45 year reunion from high school.  I am a child of the 70's.  Peace and Love.  So you can imagine, when taking a long, hard look at today it makes me pause.  This first May finish I knew I had to stitch because the words rang true.  This is another Stoney Creek.

And then the next little piece of great news I I have finished another little Nutcracker and he is my favorite.  He really looks like a little Nutcracker.  Well at least to me he does.  The colors were all DMC and he came together very fast.  He is actually from the "very old" magazine I discovered. He is stitched on 22 and I could stitch him again.  (Which is very rare for me to think).  See how little he is next to Mr. Green.  If you can tell - I know the picture is small - but doesn't Little Green really look more like a nutcracker???

It is finally going to be in the 70's tomorrow.  We have been just above freezing every morning this week.  My stitching time drops dramatically as the temperature goes up. We have so little Sunny Weather here, I will be soaking up the sun every moment I get.

Have a wonderful day.

Thursday May 5.

Some Finishes to Share

Well this is a year in Chalk for May -- but it is not this color fabric.  I was so tired of the Gunmetal Gray fabric, we picked a completely different color scheme for May. This fabric is actually Green, like the Avocado - the inside off one.  Sort of.  And the floss is Chalk, and Sugar Plum (Gentle Arts).  This looks really pretty - but in the picture it looks terrible.  Will see if I can get a better picture over the weekend.

Here is Mr. Red Nutcracker.  He is my third one complete for the year 9 more to go.
So I don't have as many choices as you would think - however I did find these handsome dudes in a very old Better Homes Cross Stitch Christmas from 1990.

I really haven't figured out any May Stitching Plans but Saturday I am taking a class at the LNS.  It's a little project on 40 ct gauze.  I have never used this fabric before so we will see.  I will show pictures for sure.

Happy Cinco_de_Mayo day.  This has become a very big celebration.  I am eating Mexican food tonight and meeting friends for a sip or two.  I am not quite sure why this has become a day of intense celebration, but I don't really mind having another day to take a little time out and spend with friends, good food and drink.
